Today, many people proudly wear white in the winter. Even Vogue, a pillar in the fashion world, okayed wearing white year-round and making it a permanent part of our outfits. White—the color of purity. Many of the concepts that white symbolizes are associated with ‘purity’—innocence, virginity, purification, and cleanliness—a pure state, before being ‘tainted’ by color. White clothing can also suggest neutrality, and hence is typically worn by match referees and adjudicators in sport events. One of the best things about white is that it acts as a reflector when you wear it and lights up your face in a most subtle and flattering way. Anything goes with white – it’s a thoroughly obliging and well-behaved colour, although I do think a sternly critical eye is required when assessing an outfit’s wearability.
